vegan mofo: asparagus miso soup

remember when my brother brought me 28 pounds of asparagus?  that gave me a ton of leeway to create recipes...  and this was one of them.

status: somewhat fail.

why i'm including it: it really wasn't bad, but felt it could have been better?  i don't know - maybe it was the miso?

would i make it again:  i might try to swap out the miso, or change the recipe some.  the next time i have 28 pounds of asparagus lying around, i'll let you know.

aaahahahaha! i DO remember that, ms. v! i think the soup looks awesome - i'm sorry it wasn't the best it could be. the miso might have been it. sometimes it goes really well with things, and sometimes it doesn't do what i want for the flavor i'm trying to achieve. this makes me want to try and make some asparagus soup though - never had it and now i wanna give it a whirl!

Dude, I do remember that! I think the idea is good, but it's so sad it didn't work. Maybe by adding potatoes? I dunno, but I love asparagus and potato soup, and adding maybe barly miso? Not sure, but 28lbs gives you room to play I guess.

Did I tell you about how my father once bought a boatload of canned asparagus? I still have a canned asparagus trauma.

i remember all that asparagus. i hate cooking fails, but the awesome part is that you learned that the flavor don't pair well together. to me asparagus formula has to be sweet+savory+asparagus. salty and asparagus doesn't win, there has to be another flavor. like maybe maple dijon roasted asparagus, or agave/miso roasted asparagus. i think berry or citrus glazed asparagus with kosher salt would work well too. follow me?

Ahh, I wish I had 28 pounds of asparagus! (or do I?!)
So sorry about your cooking fail... seems like miso and asparagus would jive well together.
