POM wonderful green smoothie
to pom or not to pom... that was my question. many may know that POM (makers of the flavourful POM wonderful juice) once had a shady past with animal rights. thankfully, through the urging of PETA and many other animal lovers, they decided to cease those practices. i originally wasn't sure if was ready to accept them back, but i believe that they deserve kudos for changing their ways. i once ate meat, and i would hate to be punished for my former transgressions. so, thanks POM! now let's drink!
- 2 oranges, peeled
- 6-8 strawberries
- 1½ cups baby spinach leaves
- 3/4 cup POM Wonderful juice
as with my typical green smoothies, you could use any other green, but i like the baby spinach most often because it doesn't overpower the fruit. however, when i'm feeling up for a more 'green' juice, i'll use kale, romaine, etc.
put everything in a blender for about 45 seconds. so easy! i find that this recipe is so filling that when i mix it up for lunch, i'm not hungry again until dinner. beyond awesome!

Green smoothies rock! This one sounds real good.
yay i'm glad they changed their ways! i like pomegranate juice, this smoothie sounds good!
I'm so glad to hear that they are no longer horrible evil corporate scum and just normal corporate scum. This actually just came up on another blog because of their animal testing. Relieved to hear it's over!!
This smoothie, sure would have tasted heavenly! Nice idea!
Sounds like the perfect way to start the day! I still haven't tried POM juices, glad they aren't testing on animals anymore...
Adding pomegranate juice to a smoothie sounds wonderful! I only wish POM and the other brands weren't so expensive. I am super glad about their ending animal testing though.
Thanks for letting us know. I've been avoiding them and now I know that it's safe to start buying POM again.
I love using pom in smoothies! This green smoothie sounds yummy!
POM just contacted me about sending samples. I wasn't sure about them clearing up their shady past, but I am happy to hear they have. I was hesitate but told them they can send it for my hubby (since I don't drink pasteurized juice). Hopefully they will still send it. Maybe I would try out your smoothie!
Wow - didn't know this about POM. Interesting. Yes to green smoothies!!! Yum Yum. Thanks for the nummy post.
I had a similar internal debate with the Pom issue. Great point. I had some pretty Un-Vegan times during my childhood and teen years, but I woke up to reality and no one judges based on my past.
PS Thank you :) It's getting hot in LA, and I wanted to make something great and not-so-heavy to post for once.
