if you haven't tried a green smoothie, i suggest you give it a shot. they are uber-delicious and super nutritious. there are quite a few recipes online (just google 'green smoothie') - some are more complicated than others. this was the first one i ever made, and it remains one of my favourites. it tastes like yummy orange julius.

- 1 banana
- 1 orange
- 1½ cups fresh spinach
- 4 ice cubes
- 1/3 cup water
since there is no added sugar, use a ripe banana - with the little brown specks. if it is under-ripe, the smoothie will loose some of the natural sweetness.
put orange, banana, and water in a blender. blend fruit until creamy, then add the ice and spinach. blend until you have a nice thick smoothie (about 30 seconds). usually 1/3 cup water works for me, but add more water if your blender has trouble with the spinach and ice.
serve in a pink elvis glass, if possible. :)

this is on my list of things to try in the near future.
So glad you put this out there. It's one of my favorites, but I can't ever seem to get it to turn out like yours!
That a nice colour.. Looks delicious! Can i grab that?
LOL "serve in a pink elvis glass" - perfect!
That does look pretty good - and it's super simple - I just may have to give that a whirl!
i've never had a green smoothie...this one sounds deeeelicious! and i love your glass ;)
Cute glass! I love green smoothies!! So comforting! :)
that looks really good, and i heart the hunka, hunka, burnin' love glass.
i make a short-cut green savory smoothie with v-8 and spinach, which is nice to have on a hot day.
I love green smoothies... but I love your glass even more!
I love smoothies and I have not tried a green one! Thanks and I will definitely give it a try.
That sounds delicious!
i haven't had a green smoothie in a looong time. think i need to try your recipe! it sounds so yummy, and i love your glass! it's so fun!
I love green smoothies - but I also think I'm loving your super snazzy glass! wow!
yay! I've made myself a green smoothie before, it was pretty good! Green food is awesome ( as long as if it is still in date, that is!)
I keep thinking I really should try a green smoothie but have a fear it will taste like lawn in a glass!! Yours does look so pretty though.
FAAAAABULOUS smoothie!!
I know exactly what you mean. So many of the Thai Vegan places in LA over orange-zestify their orange chik'n. It's a bit much for me, too. These are actually a pretty mild orange flavor, but they would definitely make one bitchin' sate with peanut sauce.
Thanks, lady :)
My spicy oats are: a packet of plain oatmeal, an insane amount of Frank's hot sauce, a Morning Star sausage patty, and an egg white! :)
Nice! I also like to mix up the greens and throw in some kale if I've got it on hand. Dates are also a wonderful ingredient to sweeten things up. :)
i love green smoothies, too!!! bananas always make them nice, sweet, and creamy. you must put kale in your next one!! i just made kale juice a few days ago and it was awesome. i haven't had it in a smoothie, but i can only imagine that it would be good.
love the pink elvis glass!
i tried a green smoothie from a shop but it tasted gross just like parsley juice i'm sure it would be way better with more fruit, your sounds fantastic
have a great night!
I love green smoothies :) And, I love the look/feel of your blog. Great job!
Cheers,
Kristen
Oh yeah, this looks great too! Love the comparison to an orange julius!
